Mathias Landén Jeppesen, better known as Vips, has played a key role in spreading teqball in Denmark since 2021 and was recently crowned Danish champion. Here, you can learn more about the sport, its technical skills, and how video technology like Veo can contribute to its development.
A few weeks ago, Veo welcomed Vips to introduce the office to the rapidly growing sport of teqball. He was first introduced to teqball by his friend Brian Brizze, who had seen the sport abroad. As a former freestyle football player, he was immediately drawn to the technical aspects of the game.
"Being able to play football on a table tennis table is wild and inspiring. We all know how difficult it is just to juggle a ball, but having to juggle while also keeping the ball moving back and forth on a table—that’s crazy. I had to try it immediately," Vips explains.
He became so fascinated by the sport that he helped establish the teqball scene in Denmark in early 2021.
The Key to Becoming a Skilled Teqball Player
According to Vips, teqball is all about technique, timing, and game understanding. You don’t have to be an expert from the beginning, but having the drive to improve your technical skills is essential.
"The most important skill to become good at teqball is being technically proficient with a football. That doesn’t mean you have to be great from the start because it’s something you can develop. But to master teqball, you need to be able to control the ball in the air."
Teqball requires a combination of body control and ball awareness.

"You need to have control over your body in terms of motor skills and coordination. This means being able to control your body in all kinds of situations while maintaining calmness."
How Veo Supports Teqball
Although the Veo camera is primarily designed for traditional ball sports, teqball players have found creative ways to use it.
"We have tried using Veo to film a larger portion of the teqball court. The challenge when playing teqball is capturing a big part of the court in one frame. But the Veo camera can do that, making it possible to see how athletes position themselves in different situations."
The technology makes it easy and efficient to document matches without needing a manual cameraman, making it ideal for a growing sport like teqball that lacks large production resources.

"At the same time, we can use the Veo camera to watch highlights from matches. This also allows our athletes to have clips that can occasionally be used for social media."
The Future of Teqball
In Denmark, teqball is developing rapidly. Vips and his team are working to establish the Danish Teqball Federation, and an international tournament in the Danish city of Grindsted is set for May. They already organize 6-8 Danish league events annually and participate in sports events across the country. One of the biggest challenges is securing sponsorships to support the sport’s expansion into schools, boarding schools, and football clubs.
"We need financial support in the form of sponsors. With sponsors on board, we can travel across the country to introduce the sport to schools, boarding schools, football clubs, and similar institutions."
Globally, teqball is one of the fastest-growing sports. In 2025, 12-15 international tournaments are planned, and efforts are being made to include teqball in the Olympic Games—either in 2028 or 2032.
"The hope is that teqball will eventually be included in the Olympic program. Whether that happens in 2028, 2032, or later is uncertain. But there is a strong effort underway to make teqball an Olympic sport."
With teqball’s increasing popularity, the need for documentation and analysis is growing. Vips sees a clear advantage in using the Veo camera.
"The best thing is that it’s easy and efficient to set up the camera and tripod. The connection to the app is seamless. We have tried other solutions in the past, but they were usually much more complicated."
Teqball combines the finesse of football with the tactical elements of table tennis and is growing stronger every day. With the right technological support, the sport can continue its journey to becoming a global phenomenon.
