FIFA, did you miss something? Veo celebrates grassroots goals with the #PeoplesPuskas

Veo

Feb 21, 2023

Veo has written an open letter to FIFA, suggesting the world football governing body may have missed a few contenders for this year’s Puskás Awards.

In 2022, there were 5.7 million grassroots goals scored and captured on Veo alone. The Danish sports-tech outfit is the first to admit they have not seen them all, but they have seen plenty of gems worthy of global recognition.

FIFA even acknowledged previously that Oli Babbington's Non League Goal of the Year could have well been a contender this year.

And they are convinced there are more out there. So in a bid to celebrate the grassroots, Veo is asking players to unearth their #PeoplesPuskas ahead of the ceremony on the 27th.

The letter reads:

Next week, the winner of the FIFA Puskás Award will be announced. It's given to "the scorer of the most beautiful goal in a match by anyone, anywhere in the previous calendar year – as long as it is captured on film according to ESPN." We think FIFA might not have seen all of the most beautiful goals scored and filmed in 2022.

Last year, talented grassroots ballers across the globe scored 5.7 million goals on Veo. We're the first to admit we haven't seen them all. But we've seen enough to think FIFA may have missed a few contenders. So we've handpicked 8 grassroots wonder goals worthy of recognition – and a nomination to the #PeoplesPuskas.

Here are 8 wonder goals to give us a taste of what’s in there: https://twitter.com/veocamera/status/1627684533851103233
