Imagine the scene of a football match. Players sprint across the pitch, verbally active, the coaches shout instructions to the team and players, and the parents add colorful commentary from the sidelines.
All of this is a mix of what is being said on the sidelines of any football match, whether it's a match at the grassroots level or an academy-level match.
If the match is recorded, there's a chance – or risk – that what's said on the sidelines gets captured on video. What the coach, parent, or player says on the sidelines during an intense match are like quick snapshots of the moment – not necessarily meant to be heard later.
Avoid abusive language being recorded
Taking a closer look at the language used on the sidelines, it’s crucial to address the issue and implement safety measures to ensure the well-being of all participants, regardless of their roles.
Skye Eddy, the Founder of Soccer Parenting, recently conducted a webinar highlighting essential steps toward becoming a more inspiring and empowering youth football parent. In the webinar, she focused on how language can spoil the experience, especially for younger players.
One concerning problem within football is the prevalence of aggressive language beyond the game itself. Aggressive language directed at players, coaches, referees, or parents can adversely affect the sports environment. Enthusiastic parents can disrupt matches and negatively impact young athletes and aspiring coaches.
Reflecting on one's behavior and its influence on matches is crucial. This involves understanding the consequences of aggressive language and its impact on the minds of especially young athletes.
Introducing the ‘Remove Audio’ feature
At Veo, we recently introduced the new ‘Remove Audio’ feature. With this, Editors and Admins can remove audio from an entire Veo recording.
'Remove Audio' will not eliminate offensive language on the sidelines, but it now provides teams and coaches with the option to remove the audio, ensuring that it is at least not heard by persons who did not attend the football match.
Learn how the ‘Remove Audio’ feature works here.
The new feature from Veo aligns with fostering a more respectful and inclusive sports culture, which is achieved through the option of eliminating offensive language from recorded matches. By doing this, we want to contribute to a more positive and empowering atmosphere for all participants – especially the youth.
‘Remove Audio’ is just one of many new features we'll shed some light on over the coming months here on the blog. This feature is just one example of how Veo is constantly evolving to address the needs of its users and improve the overall sports experience.
